Super short post: when parents and siblings are illPosted: April 16, 2010
You know what sucks more than being stuck in a moment of self-pity that your little sister has such fascinating medical problems that nobody knows quite what’s wrong or how to help her feel better and growing up with this has made your life a little more starkly drawn than many other people’s lives?
The guilt that sets in when you realize that one of your parents is ill. Even more super fun: when one has a chronic disorder and another has an “acute” disease (i.e., a mild infection)…and they’re the ones who are physically caring for said little sister.
This is why I dislike feeling stuck inside my own brain, and why I’m thankful that I’ve got caring, listening friends and have had some caring therapists.
